Logging food
Logging meals by text, voice, or photo
Gauge is built so logging takes seconds. Type what you ate in plain language, say it out loud, or snap a photo — Gauge works out the foods and macros for you.
Text
Type into the field at the top of the Home screen, exactly the way you'd say it: "in-n-out shake and burger" or "two eggs, toast with butter, black coffee." After a moment, Gauge splits it into individual foods and shows them under Tap to add. Tap each one to log it, or use Add all when there's more than one.
When the field is focused and empty, a Recents row shows your most-logged foods as one-tap chips.
Voice
Tap the microphone button next to the text field. While Listening… pulses, say what you ate, then tap the mic again to stop. Your words land in the text field and get parsed just like typed text.
If the mic button asks for permission, allow microphone access — or fix it later via the alert's Open Settings shortcut.
Photo
Tap the camera button, then choose Take Photo or Choose from Library. Before analyzing, Gauge asks "Anything the photo doesn't show?" — this is your chance to mention hidden ingredients like cooking oil, dressing, or how many eggs are in that scramble. Notes you add here override what the model sees, so use them for anything ambiguous.
Photo logging is a Gauge Pro feature. The photo is analyzed and immediately discarded — it's never stored.
Where entries land
Entries file into Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, or Snacks based on time of day. To aim at a different meal, tap an empty meal header first — a Logging to… chip confirms where the next adds go. The bar at the bottom of Home tracks your calories and macros against today's targets; tap the totals to flip between what you've eaten and what's left.
